Foam Beetle

Foam Beetle
Very universal pattern. Add stuff to it, change the colors. Imagination is very powerful.
One note on this particular one is.  I used chenille which will cause the fly to sink a bit. Another option which is lighter and would cause it to ride on top of the water would be ostrich herls or even peacock herls.
Materials
Hook size 10
Thread utc 70
Foam in black and yellow
medium black chenille





 1. Secure hook in vise.
 2. Lay down a base of thread and give a light coat of super glue.
 3. Tie on the body foam.
 3a. All the way to front.
 4. Tie in chenille.
 5. Wrap to front.
 6. Pull over foam and make one wrap where you want it as a mark.
 7. Move foam and add a drop of super glues.
 8 Tie down using the mark you made.
 9. Add the indicator strip.
 10 Trim and whip finish.

Easy pattern to tie and the fish love it.
Materials.
Hook Size 10
1/8 Brass Bead
Thread UTC 140 Fl Orange
Orange Rubber legs
Medium Black Chenille
Black Hackle






1. Place bead on hook and secure in vise. Work thread to rear.
 2. Tie in rubber legs the full length of body for more durability.
3. Tie in the chenille.
 4. Wrap up almost to the bead.
 5. Tie in the hackle feather.
 6. Warp 3-4 turns of hackle. Tie off and clip.
 7. Make a collar of thread and whip finish.
