Quick, Easy and Effective.

That's how I describe this little jig. Pan fish love this little jig. Tied in a bigger size will work great for ice fishing.

Materials

Size 10 1/80oz jig

UTC 70 Tan

Squirrel Tail

Squirrel belly colored rabbit dubbing

Grizzly Saddle hackle

 1. Secure jig in vise.

 2. Work thread to the back.

 3. Measure length of tail.

 4. Attach tail and tie in whole length.

 5. Trim excess tail material at head.

 6. Move thread back down to the end.

 7. Tie in a hackle.

 8. Dub a tapered body.

 9 Wrap hackle up to front.

 10. Whip finish.

11. Trim hackle and thread and Enjoy.

Simple Hopper

Simple Hopper

This is another good summertime pattern. A very easy to tie hopper imitation.

Small size 10 for panfish or a size 6 for bass.

Materials

Hook size10 or 6

Thread UTC 70 Tan

2mm Tan foam

Amber superfine dubbing

Deer hair wing

Orange speckled legs

1. Secure hook in vise. 

 2. Wrap thread to the end.

 3. Place a thin layer of glue on the thread.

 4. Trim the foam to a point for tail and tie in.

5. Tie down really good. 

 6 Dub the whole shank and move thread 1/3 of the way down.

 7. Cut and stack a small clump of hair and tie in for the wing.

 8. Fold foam over to form a head and short over wing.

 9. Trim foam.

 10. Tie on the legs.

 11. Trim to desired length.

12. Whip finish and enjoy.

The Crant

The Crant

This is one of my goto patterns for slow summer bluegill fishing. Its called the Crant because it looks like a mix between an ant and a cricket in the water.

Materials

Hook size 10

Thread UTC 70 Black

UV Black ICE dub

Black 2mm foam

Yellow 2mm foam

Black rubber legs

 1. secure hook in vise.

 2. Wrap thread to the end.

 3. Dub the shank up to just behind the eye. Then move thread about 1/3 of the way down the shank.

 4. Place a tiny drop of glue.

 5. Trim end of a strip of foam to a tail point and then tie on.

 6. The glue will make this super durable.

 7. Fold over the front to make a head.

 8. Tie on one leg on each side.

 9. Add the yellow foam on top for sighting.

 10. Trim to desired length.

11. Whip finish and Enjoy.

Great pattern I've been using lately. Works great for bluegills and other panfish. Something about the long tail and over sized hackles that the fish cant resist. This is an easier version to tie that works just as well as the original.

Materials

UTC 70 black thread

Size 10 hook

Beadchain eyes

Grizzly hackle tail

Grizzly saddle hackle

Variegated chenille

1. Start thread. 

 2. Attach bead chain eyes.

 3. Move thread to the back.

 4. Tie in your tail fibers.

 5. Tie in the hackle.

 6. Tie in the chenille.

 7. Wrap chenille up to the eyes.

 8. Spiral wrap the hackle to the front.

9. Whip finish and Enjoy.

Big Mike's Killer Bee

This pattern was created by Big Mike over at Fishing with Big Mike on Youtube. 

It was created from one of my other pattern video the Bluegill Killer. This one doesn't disappoint either.

Materials

1/64oz or 1/80oz jig

UTC 70 Black thread 

Red rubber legs for tail

Black and Yellow variegated chenille 

Grizzly Hackle

 1. Wrap thead to the back.

 2. Tie in 2 rubber legs for tail.

 3. Tie in chenille.

 4. Wrap forward. and tie and trim.

5. Tie in hackle.

6. Wrap 5-6 turns and tie off and whip finish.

7. Cut thread and hackle.

 8. Trim tail.
