Green weenie

How to tie
Green Weenie

Very simple fly to tie. Works great on panfish and some bass. This pattern was created in the 50's for catching trout and salmon. I tied it here without the bead head but you can certainly add one if you'd wish. I also used a bright pink thread to act as a hot spot to really grab fishes attention.

Materials
Hook sz 8-14 2xl wet hook
Thread UTC 70 fl pink
Weight .015 lead
Tail and Body Medium chartreuse chenille

 1. Secure hook in vise

 2. Apply about a dozen turns of lead onto shank.
 3. Start thread at the front and secure the lead and work it to the back
 4. Tie in the chenille
 5. Make a tail loop about half the length of the shank. Tie down with a few wraps
 6. Tie down the first tag end and move thread to the front of shank
 7. Wrap the chenille up to the eye of the hook leaving little space to tie off
Whip finish add a spot of glue.
This pattern is so easy and it works there is little reason not to have a few in your box.
