Bluegill Bug

How to tie
Bluegill Bug

This is one of my favorite patterns. It was probably one of the first ones I created probably in 2008ish its a combination of a couple of different patterns. Real easy to tie. This pattern can be tied with multiple foam colors orange is another good one.

Materials
Hook sz 8-12 standard dry
Thread black UTC 70
Eyes plastic bead chain
Tail pearl Krystal flash
Body UV pearl ice dub
Top 2mm black foam.

 1. secure hook in vise
 2. Start thread and tie on eyes. A drop of super glue will help here in durability. Move thread to the back of hook.
 3. Tie on flash tail about shank length.
 4. Continue tying tail down and stop up front.
 5. Cut a strip of foam maybe 3-4mm wide and cut tip to a triangle for easier tie in.
 6. Tie the foam in to the back of the hook
 7. Make a dubbing noodle
 8. Wrap dubbing up the shank to the eyes. Then move thread in front of the eyes
 9. Pull over foam and tie down in front of eyes. Don't cut it yet
 10. Fold foam back over itself and tie off behind eyes
 11. Now its time to whip finish and put a tiny drop of glue on the thread
12. Cut the wing shape by taking out a triangle in the middle

And there it is.
Tie up a bunch and go catch some fish
