Easy Pheasant Tail Nymph

Fly Tying Easy Pheasant Tail Nymph
A simple spin on a classic pattern.
Materials
Hook 10-16 std wet hook
Bead 1/8 Brass
Thread UTC 70
Lead .015
Tail and Body Pheasant tail fibers
Rib Small copper wire
Thorax Peacock Herl
 

1. Add bead to hook and secure in vise. I use about 6-8 wraps of lead pushed into bead.


2. Start thread and work to the back of shank.
3. Take about 6 fiber and measure the shank length.
4. Tie in.
5. Tie down excess the whole body length and then work thread back down.
6. Tie in the wire rib.
7. Tie in another 6 fibers for the body by the tips.
8. Wrap up to the thorax area.
9. Rib with 4-5 turns of wire.
10. Tie in 3-4 herls.
11. Wrap to create a full thorax area.
 12. Whip finish and enjoy.
