Green Grub

Fly Tying
Green Grub
Easy pattern to tie once you've made a few.
Works great on panfish and probably a trout would bite it.
Materials
Size 10 heavy wire scud hook
.015 lead wire
8/0 orange thread
Mallard Flank Feather
Small mono rib I used 2lb
2-3mm strip of ziplock baggie
Green Synthetic dubbing
Orange dubbing
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
1. secure hook in vise and add about a dozen wraps of lead. 
 2. Start thread and secure the lead down.
 3. Tie in about 6 mallard flank fibers at eye.
 4. Move thread to back and tie in more mallard flank fibers.
 5. Tie in the plastic baggie strip.
 6. Tie in the mono rib.
 7. Make a dubbing noodle of the green.
 8. Wrap up to head.
 9. Pull over the plastic strip and tie down.
 10. Wrap the rib up to form body segments.
 11. Make an orange dubbing noddle.
 12. Wrap the head and whip finish.
 13. Using a needle or velcrow pick out dubbing on the bottom.
 14. Trim with scissors.
