Another super easy and effective pattern.

Materials

Hook 3xl

Thread  Black UTC 70

.20 Lead wire

Tail Red hackle fibers

Medium Black Chenille

Grizzly Hackle

 1. Start by spiral wrapping some lead down the shank.

 2. Start thread and work it down.

 3. Tie in a tail.

 4. Tie in a hackle fiber by the tip.

 5. Tie in the chenille.

 6. Wrap the chenille up to the eye.

 7. Spiral the hackle up and tie off.

8. Whip finish and Enjoy.

My variation of a classic pattern. Works great on panfish.  

The added weight helps get it down to the fish in the warmer summer months.

Materials

Hook Size 10

1/8 Black Bead

Utc 70 Thread

Tail red feather fibers

Dark Green Floss body

Meduim oval tinsel rib

Mallard Flank wing

Grizzly Hackle fiber Throat

Olive dubbing collar

 1. Place bead on hook and start thread to the back.

 2. Measure tail as long as body.

 3. Tie in the hackle fiber tail.

 3. Tie in whole length of body.

 4. Tie on the oval tinsel.

 5. Tie on the floss.

 6. Work thread back to the front.

 7. Wrap the floss up to bead.

 8. Wrap the rib.

 9. Tie on the grizzly throat.

 10. Tie on the wing.

 11. Make firm tight wraps.

 12. Cover thread with a little dubbing collar.

13. Whip finish and Enjoy.

Mickey Finn

An easy and effective fly to tie and fish.

Materials.

Hook- 3-4xl 

Thread UTC 70 Black & Red floss

Medium Flat Silver Tinsel

Medium Silver Oval Tinsel

Red and Yellow Bucktail

 1. Start with the red floss behind eye.

 2. Work floss to rear of hook and make a short tag.

 3. Work floss back to eye and tie in Black thread.

 4. Tie on both tinsels at the front.

 5. Tie them on all the way back to the tag. 

 This helps keep the body flat and gives it a bit more body.

 6. Before wrapping flat tinsel apply some super glue to body.

This will help and and make it stronger.

 7. Wrap up the flat tinsel a couple eye lengths from eye.

 8. Spiral wrap the oval tinsel up.

 9. I like equal parts red and yellow mixed of bucktail.

Original pattern goes yellow then red with more yellow on top.

 10. Trim butts at an angle to make tying the head easier and neater. 

 11. Make a nice head and whip finish.

 12. Super glue and then clearcoat I use Sally Hansen's.

13. Enjoy

Cool little pattern i found on the interwebs and super easy to tie.

Materials

Size10 hook

UTC 70 thread

1/8 brass bead

Rubber legs for tail

Medium red and black chenille

 1. Place bead on hook and start thread. Wrap to the back.

 2. Tie in the rubber leg tails.

 3. Tie in both chenilles.

 4. Wrap to the bead.

 5. Trim and whip finish.

 6. Trim and split the tail.

Gold and Maroon

They don't get much easier than this.  The panfish really enjoyed this one in the late summer/fall time.

Materials

Hook 12-14

1/8 Brass Bead

UTC 70 Black thread

Gold Tinsel rib

Maroon Dubbing

 1. Place bead on hook and secure in vise.

 2. Start thread and wrap to back.

 3. Tie in the tinsel rib.

4. Make a dubbing noodle.

 5 Wrap up to the bead.

 6. Wrap the rib upto the bead. Tie off and whip finish.

7. Use Velcro to tease out the fibers a bit.
